Custom Made Airboxes and Snorkels

Many customers have contacted us regarding our ZD30 airboxes asking if a 4 inch inlet and outlet could be incorporated. This was not possible with the ZD style box. We then developed a larger 4″ airbox which has been used for big power V8’s and turbocharged motors with serious airflow requirements.

This airbox has been designed so it can be used in many different applications weather you have a Nissan / Toyota / land rover / Jeep etc. running big diesels V8,s or even stock motors this airbox can be retro fitted to suit the application.

In the photos we have an illustration showing the size of the airbox and were the intake can be welded into the can. We will require a measurement from the end of the can to the centre of the intake tube as per the drawing so the intake can be fitted to the correct spot for your application.

The intake and outlet (lid) will both be 4 inch for maximum airflow, The can comes as pictured without any mounts so it can be positioned in your engine in the best possible spot so you can then fabricate your own mounts!

These air boxes are also available without the intake bored if needed.

All the hard work is done, The air box will be 100% water and dust tight and comes with the filter element, RYCO HDA5487.

Included is a Donaldson vacuator valve, this valve is to be installed at the lowest point of the airbox housing to allow any water that enters to drain out.

Unlike many 4″ snorkels, you do not have to cut holes in the inner guard, which often creates roadworthiness issues because you have cut through a structural part of the body. Instead the snorkel passes above the inner guard and through a hole cut in the corner of the bonnet using our template.

This also places the snorkel out of harms way, reducing the chances of it being torn off on trees or banks.The snorkel mounts on 2 existing M6 weld nuts in the inner guard and the pillar mount which is attached using 7 rivets and a polyurethane adhesive for waterproofness.

To fit this kit you must relocate all existing components from the rear of the passenger guard. This often includes Ignition Coil, diesel vacuum systems, vacuum locker solenoids, LPG converters etc..

Included is a Donaldson vacuator valve, this valve is installed at the lowest point of the airbox housing to allow any water to drain out.

This kit represents great value when compared to separate airbox and snorkel purchases. Not to mention the compactness, huge airflow capacity and ease of installation.

This snorkel comes complete with the pillar mount/guard mount, fitting template and instructions.

This side entry snorkel is made to line up with the factory snorkel hole in the inner guard.

You will also receive in this kit a gas stut for your bonnet,When the bonnet is cut and the snorkel is ran through the bonnet you can no longer run the gas strut on this side, So we have a stonger strut that mounts to the other side where the existing stut is that is gased higher to hold the weight of the bonnet when open.

Included is a Donaldson vacuator valve, this valve is installed at the lowest point of the airbox housing to allow any water to drain out.

NOTE plumbing is not supplied from the airbox lid to the engine as there are so many variations in engines, turbo sizes, V8s and throttle body locations it is impossible to always supply the correct parts, All bends etc for plumbing can be purchased through eBay or from any truck shop.

Inner guard entry hole does need to be trimmed larger to accommodate the 3.5 inch bend joining the airbox in the inner guard. ( snorkel is available on its own also without the airbox and inner guard plumbing )

The landcruiser 76/78/79 series V8 is renown for letting dust through the airbox so we have come up with a 100% sealed unit offering a massive airflow improvement over the original airbox.

The airbox is a direct bolt in using original mounting holes, No cutting inner panels,, No having to source joiner tubes,, No drilling holes,, A simple bolt in!

Comes with the factory look rubber join from the lid of the air box to the engine as well as the required hose clamps making the plumbing as simple as it can get.

This airbox is a 3rd bigger then the original and uses the 200 series Toyota landcruiser air cleaner element.

Having been able to make the airbox much larger with a much larger filter element and the funnel design 5 inch outlet lid allowed a massive improvement of airflow with test results flowing 41% Greater then the factory filter!

This airbox set up along with the big exhaust/dump pipe and the wide selection of tunes available for this model of Toyota there are big power gains achievable.

At the lowest point on the airbox is a Donaldson Vacuator water drain valve to insure any water that enters the snorkel and runs down to the airbox drains back out.

It is well known across the Patrol community that the Nissan GU Patrol ZD30/TD42T airbox seems to be made for this task.

Our Stainless Steel airbox is modelled around the popular ZD30/TD42T Airbox but includes these key features!

Simple to mount; requires only one 6mm hole to be drilled in inner guard and utilises 2 existing holes behind the headlight.

Mounts on 3 rubber cushion mounts to prevent fatiguing of the inner guard Installed with a genuine Donaldson VacuatorTM Valve to drain any water that may find its way into your airbox.

Flows a massive 308CFM @ 8″ H2O, 38% flow increase over standard ZD30 airbox and 45% increase over the TD42 airbox Retains the readily available Nissan style ZD30/TD42 filter element. Supplied with a high quality filter element.

3.5″ mandrel bent unrestricted outlet. ZD30 and TD42 airboxes both have significant airflow restrictions in their outlets. 3.5” inlet.

Most snorkels are easily connected by using a rubber joiner and hoseclamps to join to our airbox inlet.

Some dual battery setups have to be shifted rearwards by around 40mm to clear the upper mount on the airbox.

The Airbox fit GU and GQ patrols. This installation does require custom plumbing to connect the aibox to your intake. Factory pipes will not connect.

If you own a GQ patrol with a TB42 carbie motor the chances are its on gas using the 300A style gas mixer on top of the carbie!

The air cleaner box used with this mixer is very poorly sealed as the airbox is 2 piece, And the joins from the airbox to the snorkel are either oval shaped or square resulting in silicon–Duck tape and other methods trying to seal up this poor design!

So we have come up with this sealed top hat that can be used on the 300A mixer top,This hat does not have a filter inside you do away with the original filter in replacement of the top hat allowing you to run a remote air cleaner box anywhere in your engine bay!

With this option it gives you a 100% water tight intake system and allows you to run a high flow remote fitted airbox and gain some performance! (see pictures for example)

The cover comes with a top and bottom Neoprene rubber seal that locates perfectly onto the top of the 300A mixer, And also 3 new screws and 3 new nuts to secure the mixer cover in position,There are 18 pre marked centre punch marks on the top of the cover allowing the customer to drill 6 holes depending on what direction you want the intake tube to point making it practical for the use with any airbox you may choose to run or see our other products on eBay to find an airbox that suits you!

The intake hole size is 3.5 inch.

This kit comes with simple instructions on the fit up process and can be fitted by anyone,Kits comes complete as pictured x1 plastic mixer cover x3 nuts and x3 screws We do not supply additional plumbing as there are many different variations in air boxes/snorkels etc.

Rocker cover breather is to be reinstalled into the new plumbing on fit up between the mixer cover and your snorkel. Longer gas feed line to the mixer may or may not require lengthening Basic tuning may be required due to increased airflow.

The funnel design 4 inch outlet lid allowed a massive improvement of airflow with test results flowing 32% Greater then the factory Air filter box!

Fabricated using 304 Stainless steel and have a satin black powder coated finish Giving it that factory look as well a good seal and flow performance.
